Four ways to buy and where it is licensed
What it is
Altenar is a sportsbook specialist. It started in 2011 as BetInAction Software and has traded as Altenar since 2014. The company employs more than 700 people across six offices, including the Isle of Man, Malta, Greece, Brazil and Uruguay, and serves 80+ clients.
It reports a presence in more than 50 countries, with approvals in markets such as Malta, the UK, Italy, Spain, Denmark, Portugal, Sweden, Romania, Greece, Estonia, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Ontario, Peru and South Africa. In April 2025 Altenar announced authorisation to offer its sportsbook and RGS in the newly regulated Brazilian market, including virtual sports. In 2024 it won Outstanding Contribution to Sports Betting Integrity at the Vixio Global Regulatory Awards, and it has collected sportsbook supplier awards at SBC and SiGMA events.
Key features
- The sportsbook module plugs into any PAM or front end and brings live odds, Bet Builder and a bonus engine.
- A turnkey sportsbook adds the surrounding systems, such as payments and KYC.
- The white-label sportsbook is the fastest route to market and runs under Altenar's licences.
- A retail solution serves operators that also run physical betting shops.
- Virtual content from Inspired, Kiron, Leap and Sportradar runs through the platform.
The choice between the four is mostly about ownership. A module keeps customer data, wallet and front end with the operator, while a white label hands almost everything to Altenar in exchange for speed. Dinos Doxiadis, Director of Product for Sportsbook and Data, presents virtual sports as a way to keep betting available around the clock between real fixtures.
Who it's for
Operators who need a supplier already certified in their target market, which can take months off a launch plan. Groups with their own platform will look at the module, newcomers that want speed at the white label, and land-based bookmakers at retail.
Before you sign
- How much of the risk management does Altenar handle, and how much can your own traders override, especially on local football where your knowledge may beat the feed?
- Does Bet Builder cover the sports and leagues your players care about, given that coverage varies?
- If you start on the white label and plan to hold your own licence later, how will the customer base and data move over, and is that agreed before launch?
